Hazen Union School and Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union announce that Aaron Hill has been selected as Hazen’s Interim Athletic and Activities Director. Hill will remain in his current role as boys basketball coach, but will be stepping down from physical education at the school. With his passion for sports and dedication to the Hazen Union School community, Hill brings a wealth of experience to this leadership position. “We are confident that under his guidance, our athletic programs and extracurricular activities will thrive and grow, as basketball has under Coach Hill’s leadership,” commented Principal Jason DiGiulio.
Hill was born and raised in Hardwick, Vermont and attended Hazen Union School before going onto the University of Vermont where he graduated in 1997. After graduating from UVM Aaron began teaching physical education at Albany Elementary School and Lake Region Union High School from 1997-2001. From there he moved onto Hazen Union where he has taught physical education and health for the past 23 years. One of Aaron’s greatest lifelong passions has been coaching. As a 19 year old college student at UVM he began coaching the Hazen JV2 and middle school boys basketball teams and eventually became the head varsity boys basketball coach in 1999. Aaron and his wife, Victoria, live in Hardwick and have two children, Carter and Letitia.
During his tenure as coach, Hill has led the Hazen Union boys basketball team to six state championships, including the most recent in 2022, and four state runners-up finishes.
“I am so excited to be able to be the Athletic Director at Hazen Union. I have been a part of the Hazen community my entire life and I will work my hardest to help give our student athletes and coaches the best experiences possible. There is no place I would rather be. It’s great to be a Hazen Wildcat!”, commented Hill.
