Ninth grade Hazen Union student Ethan Gann has been hard at work this past semester producing a podcast about the universal school meals legislation currently before the Vermont state legislature. You can listen to some of Ethan’s work that recently aired on Vermont Public at https://www.vermontpublic.org/show/vermont-edition/2023-05-05/as-lawmakers-debate-universal-school-meals-an-east-hardwick-teen-is-following-the-story.
Ethan worked with mentor and Vermont Public reporter Anna Van Dine to produce the universal school meals podcast, earning credit through Hazen Union’s Pathway’s program. One listener who wrote to Vermont Public after the segment aired stated, "The young man who did the story on school nutrition did a wonderful job. I hope he chooses to take his talent into journalism." We couldn't agree more: it’s an impressive example of learner agency and self-direction!
