How to Get Involved

To get involved with the Hazen Union Key Club, please contact your faculty advisor, Megan Cobaugh at mcobaugh@ossu.org. We would be thrilled to welcome new members or consider requests for service projects or other ways to support the community.

There are also many opportunities to serve as an officer on our club board, District Board, and International Board. Our current President, Sarah, is also serving as Lieutenant Governor of District 5 within the New England and Bermuda District.

Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. The core values of Key Club are Leadership, Character Building, Caring, and Inclusiveness. Members of Key Club develop initiative and leadership skills by serving their schools and communities. Key Club International is a branch of the Kiwanis family

The Hazen Union Key Club is sponsored by the Hardwick Kiwanis Club, with whom we work closely with to help support the many service projects and events they host throughout the year. We have recently revived the Key Club after a brief hiatus and a change of advisor.

Travel

Each year, we travel to the District Educational Conference (DECON) in Springfield, Massachusetts where we gather with students from over 170 Key Clubs within the New England and Bermuda District to recognize outstanding leaders and service projects, complete service projects, and learn more about Key Club and ways that students can service their school and community. There is also an opportunity to travel to the International Educational Conference (ICON) over the summer. This past year, our club President, Sarah, traveled to ICON and has many amazing stories to share!

Meetings & Service Events

We work really hard to meet weekly, but we also recognize that a person's high school years are very busy! It is not a requirement to attend all meetings or projects, but some participation is a requirement. Due to the recent hiatus, we are looking for opportunities to serve our school and community. Key Club International works with organizations like UNICEF, March of Dimes, and the Children’s Miracle Network.

Our New England and Bermuda District has chosen to work with:

  • Children of Peace International
  • Camp Sunshine
  • Thirst Project
  • And many others

In the coming year, we are looking to host events such as a Dodgeball Tournament, a Cornhole Tournament, and Bingo to help support those charities and projects.
