The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont provides prestigious, fun, accelerated learning residencies on college
campuses for highly-motivated young Vermonters. Each Institute is unique, built around a single focus area.
But they all share certain similarities: they’re all residential, so you live on a college campus and have access
to all the resources the college provides, from state-of-the-art labs to studios

High school girls who have completed their junior year of high school are eligible to apply to become an
American Legion Auxiliary Green Mountain State delegate.The Legion selects delegates who spend an
intensive week (6 days) of working together as self-governing citizens learning how to participate in the
functioning of Vermont’s local and state government. Delegates will spend their time campaigning for local and
statewide office or serving as attorneys in the State’s judicial system. After learning how to govern their state,
the delegates will put what they have learned to use when they attend a mock-government session at the
Vermont State House as part of their girls state experience. Delegates will have the opportunity to run for
office, draft their own legislation, and act as elected officials or attorneys, and will have access to their elected
Officials.

Try a Major Day is designed especially for high school sophomores and juniors to experience first-hand all that
Vermont Tech has to offer. Opportunities include hands-on programs leading to careers in many exciting fields:
Aviation, Diversified Agriculture, Engineering Technology, IT & Computer Engineering, Nursing & Allied Health, Veterinary Technology, and many more.

Provides an overview of the academic richness of UVM and an opportunity for most promising high school
students to view the exceptional research UVM students in conjunction with their faculty members are
conducting on campus.

HOBY aims to inspire young people to make a difference and become catalysts for positive change in their
home, school, workplace, and community. High Schools select students from their sophomore class to attend
each year and leader. They are immersed in a rich leadership curriculum and involved in a social change
community service project. This year’s VT State Leadership Seminar is at St. Michael’s College
