Whether planning to continue their education after high school or explore workforce options, students should consult with their school counselor throughout their time at Hazen.

Hazen school counselors can help students understand requirements for attending specific colleges, as admission requirements vary greatly.

They can also help students build experiences in high school that will set them up for success in the workforce.

Parents and students are encouraged to look over Hazen’s Programs of Study for course information and “pathways to graduation” examples.

Role of the School Counselor

School counselors help all students:

  • apply academic achievement strategies
  • manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills
  • plan for postsecondary options - higher education, work force, or military

We are here to assist students as they plan for their years beyond high school. To that end, we provide:

  • individual student academic planning and goal setting
  • collaboration with families/teachers/ administrators/community for student success
  • direction to students and parents/guardians in search of resources that will help them to plan for and apply to college or to explore and access career training, apprenticeships or workforce entry

Ultimately, Hazen Union school counselors work to design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes.
