Mix it Up at Lunch TODAY!  On Wednesday, September 21, Hazen students will be asked to mix it up at lunch and enjoy 25 minutes of raucous fun and festivities!  There will be games, prizes, music and lots of opportunities to make new friends! 

Special Guest Speaker Here TODAY!  On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 11:30 AM students in grades 9 and 10 will hear a presentation in the gym on goals and overcoming adversity to find purpose in their lives.  Motivational speaker, Richie Contartesi talks to audiences all over the country with great reviews. This event is sponsored by VSAC.  

Josten's Representative Here TODAY!  Attention Sophomores!  Our Josten's representative, Matt Clark, will be here today to collect orders for class rings.  Matt will be in the cafeteria at 10 AM to meet with students!  

Activities Fair:  What is there to do at Hazen?  Come to the Activities Fair on Thursday, September 22 and sample the smorgasbord of clubs and after-school enrichment activities available to all Hazen students.  Whether your interest is drama, chess or skiing and adventures in the great outdoors there is something for everyone!  High school students will attend from 11:30 to 12 noon; Middle school students will attend from 2:00 to 2:30 PM.  

Junior Class Meeting:  Attention all Juniors!  There will be an important meeting of the Junior Class on Friday, September 23, during Support Block to discuss Prom and fund raising for prom in the cafeteria. You must come to meetings and participate in fund raising to have a say about Prom 2017!  

Red Cross Blood Drive at Hazen:  American Red Cross volunteers will be at Hazen on Tuesday, September 27, from 12:30 to 5:30 PM for a Blood Drive sponsored by the Hazen National Honor Society, Key Club and SADD group.  Donors wishing to schedule an appointment can call 1-800-733-2767 or go to the web site, redcrossblood.org.  Some students are eligible to donate blood.  Students over 16 may donate with parent's consent.  Students under 18 must meet some weight restrictions.  See Mike Clark for additional information.  

Women Can Do Conference:  Attention Girls!  How Can Your Career Change the World?  Come find out at the Women Can Do Conference to be held on Thursday, October 13th.  Sponsored by Vermont Works for Women, the conference is a career immersion experience to allow high school girls to explore the  skilled trades and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.  See Jen Olson in Guidance to register before September 30th.  Hurry!  Space is limited and you won't want to miss out!

Annual Student Information / Medical Information Update Now Overdue!  It is absolutely essential that the school has access to the most current information for our students, especially in an emergency situation or should your child become ill or injured at school.  Please update and sign the form your child brought home in the first day packet and return it to the Guidance Office as soon as possible

New Student Parking Permits for 2016-17!  Attention student drivers!  Students who drive to school and park in the Hazen parking lot each day should register their vehicle in the Principal's Office and display a Student Parking Pass.  The Parking Pass is free!  See Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office for a form.   

Important Fall Happenings to Note on your Calendar

Lifetouch School Picture Re-take Day:  Students and staff who missed the school picture day will have another opportunity on Wednesday, October 12. Every student must have a free photo taken for their school ID even if they don't plan to order a picture package.

Senior Class Meeting with Josten’s Rep:  Members of the Senior Class will meet with the Josten’s representative at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 24, during TSA to discuss ordering caps and gowns and graduation announcements.  Seniors will receive their ordering information packet at this meeting.

October Teacher Professional Days - October 19, 20 and 21 – Students will be dismissed early (11:35 am) on Wednesday, October 19, and school will be closed for students on Thursday, October 20, and Friday, October 21, to allow teachers to participate in professional development training.

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences – Fall Parent Teacher conferences will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016.  School will be closed for students on this day. 

November Recess – School will be closed Wednesday, November 23 through Friday, November 25, 2016.

December Teacher Professional Day – Students will be dismissed early (11:35 am) on Friday, December 9, 2016 to allow teachers to participate in professional development training.

December Recess – School will be closed from Monday, December 26, 2016 through Monday, January 2, 2016 for the December Recess.  School will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
