October Professional Development Days - No School for Students:  Students and parents are reminded that school will close at 11:30 AM today, Wednesday, October 21, to  allow teachers to participate in Professional Development Training.  School will also be closed for students on Thursday, October 22, and Friday, October 23.  
Soccer Playoff Results:  Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer Team for their resounding (5-2) victory against Rivendell yesterday.  The Wildcats will take on Stowe in a quarterfinal match up on Friday at 3:00 PM in Stowe.  The Lady Wildcats unfortunately ended their season yesterday with the loss to Oxbow, but they played hard and with integrity to represent Hazen so they deserve a huge round of applause!
Hazen Unity Day on Wednesday:  The Hazen Student Council will sponsor special activities today, Wednesday, October 21, to raise awareness of national Unity Day.  This special event will be celebrated throughout the district as we stand Together Against Bullying - United for Kindness, Acceptance and Inclusion.  Students are asked to make personal commitment to end bullying in our schools and sign the pledge during lunch today.  Also, the SADD program is sponsoring a Mix-It-Up at Lunch day to encourage students to get acquainted outside of their regular social circle.  Participating students will make some new friends and be eligible to win some great prizes!.  
Career Fair TODAY:  Hazen Union School will sponsor a Career Fair today, Wednesday, October 21, from 8 to 11 AM in the Gym.  Students will visit the fair to hear from community members about their experiences on the job and why they chose their career field.  Middle school students will visit the fair from 8 - 10 AM according to their House schedule.  High school students will visit the fair during period 3 - 9:30 to 10:15 AM or period 4 - 10:50 to 11:35 AM.
GMTCC Open House TODAY:  The Green Mountain Technical and Career Center will hold an Open House today, Wednesday, October 21 from 6 to 8 PM at the school.  Interested students and parents can get a tour of the facility, get to meet the instructors and current students and even partake of a Pasta Dinner prepared by Culinary Arts students!  Cost for the pasta dinner is $6 for adults; $5 for kids ages 5-12; tots under 5 are free.
Ski and Ride Information:  The snow flurries over the weekend were a reminder of the winter fun ahead in the Hazen Ski and Ride program!  Please see Mrs. Foster in Room 1 to pick up a registration packet or in the Information Carousel in front of the Guidance Office.  All paperwork for the program is due by the end of the month so don't delay!  
Coming Attractions...... The Hazen Music Department will sponsor a Halloween Coffee House on Wednesday, October 28.  Students interested in performing should sign up in the Music Department.  The Student Council will sponsor the annual Halloween Costume Contest on Thursday, October 29, in the cafeteria during the second half of TSA.    So scare up some friends and dig out your ghoul groove to participate in these special activities!
Drama Club Production:  The Hazen Drama Club is now in rehearsal for their fall production and you will not want to miss this family favorite musical!  The Hazen Drama Club will present "The Wizard of Oz" at the Hardwick Town House at 7 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 5, 6, and 7, with a special 2 PM matinee on Saturday.  Save the date and come out to support our very talented students!
Parking Decals are In: The Hazen 2015-16 Parking Permits are in! Students who plan to drive to school and park in the Hazen parking lot should get an Application to Drive Vehicles on School Property form from the Information carousel in front of the Guidance Office. See Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office if you have a permit from last year and the same car. Those students will not need to fill out a new form. 

After School Activities:  Hazen is pleased to offer the following new extra-curricular activities for the fall semester:
    Ultimate Frisbee - 2:45 to 3:45 PM.  Tuesdays
    Poetry and Creative Writing with Kaleb Gates - Tuesdays,  2:45 PM in Ms. Harple's room.
    Italian Cooking with Chef Delzio - Thursdays, 2:45 to 4 PM, in Room 2121.
    Tennis Club with Mr. Alexander - Thursdays, 2:45 to 3:45 PM on the Tennis Court.
     Art Club with Ms. Davis - Fridays in Mr. Salmin's room, 2156, 2:45 - 3:45 PM.
