7th Grade Walking Field Trip on Wednesday!  The Hazen 7th Grade class will take a walking field trip to Atkins Field from 1 to 2:30 PM on Wednesday.  Students will return to Hazen in time for dismissal and the bus ride home.  
National Honor Society Induction Ceremony:  The Hazen Union School Chapter of the National Honor Society will hold their annual induction of new members on Wednesday, May 20, at 7 PM in the Hazen Auditorium.  Guest speaker for this years ceremony is Mr. Jay Modry, HUS Science Department.  Parents, friends, staff and faculty are cordially invited to attend the ceremony and the following reception.
Science NECAP Testing this Week!  All students in grades 8 and 11 will participate in the annual Science NECAP assessments as follows:  Grade 11 will test on Monday, May 18, Period 1B; Tuesday, May 19, Period 2A; Wednesday, May 20, Period 2B.  Room assignments will be posted outside of Mr. Pennock's and Mr. Modry's rooms.  Students in grade 8 will test from 8:00 to 9:15 AM on Wednesday, May 20, Thursday, May 21, and Tuesday, May 26.  
GMTCC Forestry Competition:  The Green Mountain Career and Technical Center will host the annual Forestry Competition (Red Neck Games) at Atkins Field in Hardwick on Thursday, May 21, from 8:45 AM to approximately 1:30 PM.  While this is not a Hazen sponsored event, traditionally some Hazen students want to attend the competition as spectators to support their friends.  To ensure that we are in compliance with attendance policies and that parents and guardians have accurate information when directing that their students be released to attend the competition, we are providing a permission slip for students to take home to their parents.  Written permission will be required to release students or parents will have to sign students out in person.  We will not be able to release a student with a phone call for this event.  Students attending the Forestry Competition will be on their own for transportation, lunch and supervision.  
Counterpoint Chorus Concert:  The Hazen Music Department has invited Vermont's premier choral singing group,Counterpoint, to teach a workshop to Hazen students and perform in an evening concert for the community on Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 PM in the Hazen Auditorium.  This is a wonderful entertainment opportunity that you will not want to miss.  Admission to the concert will be $7; a portion of which will benefit the Hazen Music Department.  
Ultimate Kickball Tournament!  Hazen students and teachers will square off in the first ever Ultimate Kickball Tournament on Friday, May 22, at 3 PM on the Hazen ball field.  Beloved Principal Mike Moriarty will lead the team of big-footed faculty against Brandon Partridge and his crew of fearless Wildcats.  The winners will receive bragging rights and the admiration of the student body for the remainder of the school year.  This is a must see it to believe it event and you will not want to miss it!  Come out and cheer on your favorite team.  Also, students are needed to make a banner to advertise the the Ultimate Kickball Tournament.  See Brandon Partridge today to help out!  
Hardwick Spring Festival and Memorial Holiday School Closure:  The Hazen Marching Band will perform in the annual Hardwick Spring Festival Parade on Saturday, May 23.  Please see the Hardwick Gazette for a schedule of events.  Parents and students are reminded that Hazen Union School will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Holiday.  
Prom 2015!   The Hazen Union School Class of 2016 is proud to announce Prom 2015 on Saturday, May 30.  Juniors and Seniors and their guests will dance under the stars and moonlight at Jeudevine Falls.  Tickets are on sale for members of the Junior and Senior through May 22.  Tickets are $15 single and $25 for a couple.  Students planning to bring a guest from another school must sign them up before May 22 in the Principal's Office.
2014-15 Yearbook Now on Sale!  The Hazen Yearbook goes is now available to purchase for only $20! Mr. Mitchell will take orders in the front lobby every morning.  The supply is limited so reserve your copy before it is too late!
