Happy Valentine's Day!  The Junior Class is selling Carnations and Snack-Grams for Valentine's Day!  Today is the last day that students and staff can order flowers and snacks to be delivered on February 12th.  Student will be able to purchase Valentine's Day goodies directly on Friday as well.  Parents and friends wishing to participate and send something special to a student can place orders at the front office!  

Valentine's Day Raffle!  Need a Bear Hug??  Today, Thursday, is the last day to purchase raffle tickets for a Giant Teddy Bear to be raffled on Friday, February 12th during high school lunch...just in time for Valentine's Day!  Tickets are only 2 for $1.00!!  Buy tickets at the front desk or from Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office.  

Ski and Ride:  Students participating in the Ski and Ride trip on Friday should eat first lunch and be ready to board the bus at 11:30 AM.

Art Club CANCELLED:  The Art Club that meets after school on Fridays with Ms. Davis is CANCELLED for this week, February 12, and next Friday, February 19, due to Winter Carnival.  Meetings will resume after Winter Break.

Coffee House:  The Hazen Music Department is sponsoring a Coffee House to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday, February 12th at 6 PM in the Auditorium.  Students wishing to perform can sign up outside the auditorium.  

Spaghetti Supper:  The Hazen Senior Class is sponsoring a Spaghetti Supper in the Hazen Cafeteria from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, February 12th. Admission is only $7 for adults; $5 for middle and high school students and $3 for children under 12. Kids 5 and under eat free.  The Spaghetti Supper is a fund raiser for the Senior Class Trip so why not have dinner at Hazen and then take in the Coffee House or the Varsity Boys Basketball Game? This is great family friendly entertainment.  

Debate Tournament at Hazen on Saturday:  The Hazen Debate Club will host the annual state-wide Debate Tournament this Saturday, February 13.  Debate teams from all over Vermont will visit Hazen for the competition.  
AWARE Presentation:  The Hardwick AWARE program and Hardwick Police Department will present special information assemblies on Monday, February 15, in the auditorium.  The topic will focus on safety when using digital media - specifically, The Dangers of Sexting.  The assembly for high school students will begin at 10 AM.  Information sessions for middle school students will be at 12:15 PM and 1:15 PM. 
Winter Carnival and Winter Break:  The Hazen Student Council is planning a day of fun-filled activities to celebrate Winter  Carnival on Friday, February 19.  Start digging out those hats and mittens and plan to spend a day celebrating with your friends and classmates.  Winter Carnival will kick off the annual Winter Break and school will be closed for students from February 22 through March 1.  Classes will resume on March 2.   
Special Course Offering - Won Hwa Do - The Way of Circular Harmony:  Students in grades 9-12 interested in learning about Asian cultures should see Mr. Miller in Guidance.  This is a 1/4 elective credit course that will begin on March 2 and space is very limited.  
Attention Sophomores:  MedQuest applications are in!  Students interested in exploring a career in medicine or health care related field should take advantage of this opportunity to spend a week at Johnson State College learning about careers in the health care field.  See your TSA advisor or Mr. Miller in Guidance for additional information.  Applications are due by March 1st.
Attention Juniors!:  Register now for the PSAT Prep Class being taught at Hazen beginning March 15.  The class will include 7 sessions focusing on Math and English tests.  The deposit for the class is $20 per session or $140 for the entire class.  The deposit will be refunded if all sessions are attended.  The non-refundable book fee is $15.  Please complete the SAT Prep Class form and see Mrs. LaPorte for information.  Registration forms are due by March 4th.
Special Olympics Community Meeting:  Special Olympics in Lamoille County is growing!  There will be a community meeting for potential athletes, coaches, and volunteers on Tuesday, February 16, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at the People's Academy Library, 202 Copley Ave, Morrisville.  Come out to hear about the programs and how to get involved.  Your involvement can provide a life-changing experience to athletes in the community.
