Hazen Hoops Season Opens!  Fans of Hazen basketball are cheering as the Hazen Wildcats open their seasons this week!  The JV and Varsity Boys will take on Thetford at home today, Thursday, December 3, for their 1st official game of the season.  The JV game will begin at 5:30 PM; the Varsity will take to the court at 7 PM.  The JV and Varsity Girls will be on the road for their first official game against Northfield on Friday, December 4.  The JV game will begin at 5:30 PM; the Varsity will play at 7 PM.  Also this week, the 8th Grade Boys and Girls will play against Danville on Saturday morning, December 5.  The girls will play at 10 AM; the boys will play at 11 AM.  Fans should check out the Athletics tab on our web page for a season schedule of games. 
Special Assembly on Friday...the Season of Giving   The Hazen SADD group, National Honor Society and Key Club will meet with students in special Kick Off Assemblies for the annual December Food Drive, Mitten Tree, and Children's Holiday Project on Friday, December 4.  The assembly for middle school students is at 7:50 AM.  The high school assembly is at 9:50 AM. 
December Music Concerts: You will definitely want to mark your calendar and plan to attend the premier musical events of the winter season presented by the Hazen Music Department.  Students who will audition for the New England Musical Festival will present a recital for family and friends todayWednesday, December 2, at 7 PM.    The Middle School Band and Chorus will present their Winter Concert in the auditorium on Monday, December 7, at 7 PM.  The High School Band and Chorus will present their Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 15, at 7 PM.  
2nd Quarter Progress Report Date is December 7:  Students are reminded that the 2nd quarter progress report period end date is Monday, December 7.  
Early Release in December:  Students will be dismissed at 11:35 AM on Tuesday, December 8, to allow teachers to participate in professional development activities.  
Poetry Slam!  Slam Poet Steven Willis, a nationally known performer, will visit Hazen Union School on Thursday, December 10, to conduct a workshop with high school students.  Mr. Willis will also present an evening performance of his own work and the work produced in the workshop at 7 PM in the Auditorium.  The entire Hazen community is invited to come out for this wonderful opportunity.
December Recess:  School will be closed for students for the December Recess from Thursday, December 24 until January 1st.  Classes will resume on Monday, January 4.
Driver Education and Inclement Weather Delays:  Scheduled Driver Education driving practice will automatically be cancelled on days that school closes due to inclement weather. 
Parking Decals are In: The Hazen 2015-16 Parking Permits are in! Students who plan to drive to school and park in the Hazen parking lot should get an Application to Drive Vehicles on School Property form from the Information carousel in front of the Guidance Office. See Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office if you have a permit from last year and the same car. Those students will not need to fill out a new form but should pick up a new decal.  

After School Activities:  Hazen is pleased to offer the following new extra-curricular activities for the fall semester:
Chess Club:  2:45 PM on Tuesdays in the Library    
Ultimate Frisbee - 2:45 to 3:45 PM.  Tuesdays
Poetry and Creative Writing with Kaleb Gates - Tuesdays,  2:45 PM in Ms. Harple's room.
Stand Up - Social justice group meets on Wednesdays at 2:45 PM in the Library.
