High School Exams!  January 12 - 15. Midterm exams for high school students will begin on Monday, January 12 through Friday, January 16. Students are reminded to be extra quiet and to minimize traffic in the halls during exams. Exam schedule:  Monday - Periods 2A and 4A; Tuesday - Periods 1B and 3B; Wednesday - Periods 1A and 3A; Thursday, Periods 2B and 4B.  Make-up exams will be administered on Friday, January 16.
Professional Development Day:  Monday, January 19, is a scheduled Professional Development Day for Faculty and Staff.  School will be closed for all students on that day.  
Ski and Ride Trip this Week:  Member of the Ski and Ride program that plan to attend the first trip on Friday, January 16, must sign up outside of Ms. Foster's room before  2:45 PM on Wednesday, January 14.  The following are important reminders for skiers and riders:  Students must have at least 70% in all classes to be eligible to attend; Middle school students MUST eat 1st lunch and be prepared to board the bus at 11:30 AM;  All gear MUST be in the lobby by 10 AM;  All skiers and riders MUST wear a helmet;  The trip will return to Hazen at 5 to 5:15 PM.
After-School Programs this Week:  There are lots of activities for students at Hazen, so check it out and get involved!  The Chess Club will meet on Tuesdays, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM in Mr. Lockhart's room.  Zumba Dance  Club will meet on Wednesdays, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM in the Cafeteria; Italian Cooking Class with Ms. Delzio will meet on Thursday from 2:45 to 4 PM; Juggling will meet on Thursday, 2:45 to 3:45 PM in the Cafeteria;  Art Club will meet on Friday, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM and the Swim Club will also meet this Friday.  Students planning to go on the Swim Club trip this week must sign up in advance with Mike Clark before Friday.  
Winter Governor's Institute:  The Governor's Institutes of Vermont for students in grades 9 to 12 is now taking applications!  Spend a Winter Weekend taking an intensive study challenge, gain exciting new skills and ideas, and make new friends!  Astro Photography, Entrepreneurship, Current Issues and Leadership, and Arts -Comedy Theater will be on February 6 to 8 at Goddard College.  Advanced Math for Girls or Songwriting for Writers and Musicians will be on February 13 to 15 at Marlboro College.  The events are held Friday to Sunday (overnight).  Theapplication deadline is January 13.  There is a sliding scale for tuition fees and scholarship are available made possible by VT EPSCoR for Workforce Development and Diversity.  See Mrs. McCarthy for more information or visit www.giv.org. 
Community Service Opportunity:  The Twin Valley Senior Center is looking for students from the Woodbury area to help with a special project.  Please see Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office for contact information.
