Happy Valentine's Day!  The Junior Class is having a Carnation Sale and Snack-Grams just in time for Valentine's Day!  Students and staff can order flowers and snacks to be delivered on February 12th.  Watch for Juniors taking orders at lunch and during breaks!  Parents and friends wishing to participate and send something special to a student can place orders at the front office!  

Valentine's Day Raffle!  Need a Bear Hug??  The Junior Class is selling raffle tickets for a Giant Teddy Bear to be raffled on Friday, February 12th...just in time for Valentine's Day!  Tickets are only 2 for $1.00!!  Buy tickets at the front desk or from Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office.  

Coffee House:  The Hazen Music Department is sponsoring a Coffee House to celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday, February 12th at 6 PM in the Auditorium.  Students wishing to perform can sign up outside the auditorium.  

Spaghetti Supper:  The Hazen Senior Class is sponsoring a Spaghetti Supper in the Hazen Cafeteria from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, February 12th. Admission is only $7 for adults; $5 for middle and high school students and $3 for children under 12. Kids 5 and under eat free.  The Spaghetti Supper is a fund raiser for the Senior Class Trip so why not have dinner at Hazen and then take in the Coffee House or the Varsity Boys Basketball Game? This is great family friendly entertainment.  

VSAC Assisted Scholarships:  Attention Seniors!  If you are applying for VSAC assisted scholarships, the Early-Bird deadline is this Friday, February 5th.  See official rules at www.vsac.org/earlybirdrules.  The regular submission/postmark deadline is March 4th.  Pick up the VSAC Scholarship booklet in the Hazen Guidance Office of from the Information Kiosk in front of the Guidance Office if you haven't gotten yours yet.

GMTCC Applications Are Now Available:  Green Mountain Technology and Career Center applications are now available on-line for the 2016-2017 school year.  There is a separate application process for the Pre-Tech program for prospective 10th grade students.  New in 2016-2017: GMTCC will offer an Agriculture and Forestry Foundations course available to 9th and 10th grade Hazen Union students only.  See Mr. Miller in Guidance for more details for any GMTCC program.

School Choice Applications: School Choice applications for the 2016-2017 school year are now available. Applications from students residing in the Hazen Union School district are due to the HUS Guidance Office preferably by February 18th so that we can meet the Winooski Valley Collarborative's deadline before Winter Break. Free Throw Championship: Attention Middle School Students!  The annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition will take place at the Hazen Gym on Sunday, January 31st, for boys and girls ages 9-14.  Registration begins at 12:30 PM; Shooting starts at 1:00 PM.  Contact Jon Lussier, 472-5030 for additional information.

Flip Schedule on Friday:  The daily schedule will flip on Friday, January 29, to accommodate students participating in the Ski and Ride trip.  The schedule will run 4, 3, 2, 1.  

Ski and Ride Trip this Week:  Students planning to attend the Ski and Ride trip to Stowe on Friday should eat first lunch and be ready to board the bus at 11:30 AM.

Vermont National Guard to Visit:  A representative from the Vermont Army National Guard will be available to meet with interested juniors and seniors on Wednesday, January 27, from 10 to 10:30 AM in the Library.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office so that we can schedule you in Enriching Students during support block 1.

GMTCC Presentation TODAY!  Staff and students from the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center will make a presentation for all students in grades 9 - 11 in the auditorium at 9:25 AM (TA/Support Period).  A community meeting will follow in the auditorium for students in grades 9-11.

"Raise Your Voice" event at Hazen:  Stand Up, Hazen's new social justice group, will sponsor an evening of mixed media performances exploring the themes of civil rights, equality, and inclusion by students and community members in the Hazen Auditorium TODAY, Friday, January 22, at 6 pm.  The event is free and open to the public.  Donations to benefit Stand Up will be appreciated.  Contact Ethan Hibbard 802.586.2200 for information.

SAT Registration:  The deadline to register for the March 5th SAT is this Friday, February 5th.  This will be the new version of the test.  Go to collegeboard.org/sat.  Please  make an appointment in Guidance if you would like to discuss which date to register as the SAT will also be offered on May 7th and at Hazen on June 4th.  If you need help registering for the SAT please come to the Guidance Office.

Vermont National Guard to Visit:  A representative from the Vermont Army National Guard will be available to meet with interested juniors and seniors on Wednesday, January 27, from 10 to 10:30 AM in the Library.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office so that we can schedule you in Enriching Students during support block 1.

Flip Schedule on Friday:  The daily schedule will flip on Friday, January 29, to accommodate students participating in the Ski and Ride trip.  The schedule will run 4, 3, 2, 1.  

GMTCC Applications Are Now Available:  Green Mountain Technology and Career Center applications are now available on-line for the 2016-2017 school year.  There is a separate application process for the Pre-Tech program for prospective 10th grade students.  New in 2016-2017:GMTCC will offer an Agriculture and Forestry Foundations course available to 9th and 10th grade Hazen Union students only.  See Mr. Miller in Guidance for more details for any GMTCC program.

Ski and Ride Trip this Week:  Students planning to attend the Ski and Ride trip to Stowe on Friday should eat first lunch and be ready to board the bus at 11:30 AM.

School Choice Applications: School Choice applications for the 2016-2017 school year are now available. Students who plan to drive to school and park in the Hazen parking lot should get an Application to Drive Vehicles on School Property form from the Information carousel in front of the Guidance Office. See Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office if you have a permit from last year and the same car. Those students will not need to fill out a new form but should pick up a new decal.

GMTCC Presentation TODAY!  Staff and students from the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center will make a presentation for all students in grades 9 - 11 in the auditorium at 9:25 AM (TA/Support Period).  A community meeting will follow in the auditorium for students in grades 9-11.

"Raise Your Voice" event at Hazen:  Stand Up, Hazen's new social justice group, will sponsor an evening of mixed media performances exploring the themes of civil rights, equality, and inclusion by students and community members in the Hazen Auditorium TODAY, Friday, January 22, at 6 pm.  The event is free and open to the public.  Donations to benefit Stand Up will be appreciated.  Contact Ethan Hibbard 802.586.2200 for information.

Junior Prom Committee Meeting:  There will be a Prom Committee meeting on Thursday, January 21, during high school lunch in Ms. Langley-Wilbur's room.  All juniors are encouraged to attend!
