GMTCC Enrollment Season:  Attention high school students!  On-line applications for the 2015-2016 school year at GMTCC are now available to students in grades 10 and 11 at gmtcc.info.  Students can go to the Guidance Office for additional information and assistance.  
Grade 9 Pre-Tech Presentation:  There will be a GMTCC Pre-Tech presentation for interested freshmen on Thursday, January 22, at 1:30 PM.  Please sign up in Guidance if you would like to attend.
GMTCC "Roadshow"!  Students interested in applying to Tech for next year will want to attend the presentation on Thursday, January 29, at 9:25 AM in the Hazen Auditorium.  Mr. Chris Miller and and current GMTCC students will be discussing their programs and expectations for tech. Students who would like to attend the presentation should sign up in Guidance for a pass.
Ski and Ride Trip this Week:  Students planning to participate in the weekly trip to Stowe today must have all gear in the lobby by 10 AM;  eat first lunch and be ready to depart at 11:30 AM; and remember helmets are required!
CPR Supplies and Certification:  Any students from Ms. Allen's 1st semester Health classes who would like a CPR mask, please see Mrs. Allen.  Also, see Ms. Allen if you would like to retake the CPR Certification test.
After-School Programs this Week:  There are lots of activities for students at Hazen, so check it out and get involved!  The Chess Club will meet on Tuesdays, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM in Mr. Lockhart's room.  Zumba Dance  Club will meet on Wednesdays, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM in the Cafeteria; Juggling will meet on Thursday, 2:45 to 3:45 PM in the Cafeteria;  Art Club will meet on Friday, from 2:45 to 3:45 PM and the Swim Club will also meet this Friday.  Students planning to go on the Swim Club trip this week must sign up in advance with Mike Clark before Friday.

Community Ice Rink to Open Soon....Possibly:  Volunteers from the Hardwick Recreation Committee and Fire Department have been working hard to get the Hardwick Community Ice Rink on Granite Street ready for use for the season and they need our help. Please spread the word to snow mobile riders to stay off the community ice rink with snow machines and keep to the VAST trail.  This will preserve the ice for skaters who would like to enjoy their sport as well.

Professional Development Day:  Monday, January 19, is a scheduled Professional Development Day for Faculty and Staff.  School will be closed for all students on that day.  
Ski and Ride Trip this Week:  The following are important reminders for skiers and riders:  Students must have at least 70% in all classes to be eligible to attend; Middle school students MUST eat 1st lunch and be prepared to board the bus at 11:30 AM;  All gear MUST be in the lobby by 10 AM;  All skiers and riders MUST wear a helmet;  The trip will return to Hazen at 5 to 5:15 PM.

High School Exams!  January 12 - 15. Midterm exams for high school students will begin on Monday, January 12 through Friday, January 16. Students are reminded to be extra quiet and to minimize traffic in the halls during exams. Exam schedule:  Monday - Periods 2A and 4A; Tuesday - Periods 1B and 3B; Wednesday - Periods 1A and 3A; Thursday, Periods 2B and 4B.  Make-up exams will be administered on Friday, January 16.
Student Council Meeting:  The Hazen Student Council will meet TODAY, Thursday, January 15, at 1:30 PM in Mr. Modry's room.  The meeting will be for planning Winter Carnival 2015 so all members should attend.
VSAC Meeting TONIGHT!!  Marti Kingsley, VSAC Counselor, will be at Hazen TONIGHT, Thursday, January 15, at 5:30 PM to meet with parents and students who would like assistance filling out the FAFSA form required by many colleges.  Students and parents can bring their own laptop or use one of the lab computers.  Visit the Guidance Webpage for a list of items to bring that may be needed to complete the FAFSA.

Today is the Application Deadline for Winter Governor's Institute!!  The Governor's Institutes of Vermont for students in grades 9 to 12 is now taking applications!  Spend a Winter Weekend taking an intensive study challenge, gain exciting new skills and ideas, and make new friends!  Astro Photography, Entrepreneurship, Current Issues and Leadership, and Arts -Comedy Theater will be on February 6 to 8 at Goddard College.  Advanced Math for Girls or Songwriting for Writers and Musicians will be on February 13 to 15 at Marlboro College.  The events are held Friday to Sunday (overnight).  The application deadline is TODAY January 13.  There is a sliding scale for tuition fees and scholarship are available made possible by VT EPSCoR for Workforce Development and Diversity.  See Mrs. McCarthy for more information or visit www.giv.org.

Ski and Ride Trip Today!   The following are important reminders for skiers and riders planning to go on the first ski trip TODAY:  Middle school students MUST eat 1st lunch and be prepared to board the bus at 11:30 AM;  All gear MUST be in the lobby by 10 AM;  All skiers and riders MUST wear a helmet;  The trip will return to Hazen at 5 to 5:15 PM.
SADD:  The Hazen High School and Middle School SADD groups will meet today during their lunch periods.  Middle School SADD members going on the Ski Trip should attend the High School SADD meeting during high school lunch at 11 AM.
