School Closed for Memorial Holiday ... School will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017, for the Memorial Day holiday.
Red Cross Blood Drive at Hazen .. Friday, May 26, from 12:30 to 6 PM in the Hazen Gym.  Sponsored by Hazen NHS.
Hardwick Spring Festival Parade.. The Hazen Band will perform in the Hardwick Spring Festival Parade on Saturday, May 27.
Spring Sports Awards Night... The Hazen Athletic Department will recognize their spring athletes at an Awards Night on Monday, June 5, at 6 PM in the Auditorium.  Please come out and celebrate the efforts of our Wildcat athletes!
Community Service Opportunity Volunteers are needed to put flags on veteran's graves at the Greensboro Cemetery before Memorial Day.  Hazen high school students can earn community service hours while performing an important and patriotic service.  See Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office for contact information for the project organizer.  
A La Carte items now available in the Hazen Cafeteria!  The Hazen Cafeteria now offers some entrees, healthy snack items and beverages for purchase individually.  A la carte items will be cash sales only or paid for by funds on student account......students may not charge a la carte items.

Prom Court 2017!  Congratulations to the Hazen Class of 2018 for presenting a spectacular prom at Hope Grows Farm!  Members of the Prom Court are Queen - Natalie Foster-Pudvah and King - Ronan Hill; Princess Brook Hall and Prince Josh Blake; Attendants were Casey McAllister and Soloman Race and MaLesha Willey and Ben Gaboriault. Many thanks to Prom Advisor, Mrs. Nicole Foster and the Junior Prom Committee for orchestrating a memorable evening!    
Spring Music Concerts this Week! The Middle School Band and Chorus will perform on Tuesday, May 23, and the  High School Band, and Chorus will perform on Wednesday, May 24.  Both concerts will begin at 7 PM in the Hazen Auditorium.
Senior Citizens Day at Hazen.. The Hazen National Honor Society will host local seniors to our school on May 25.  Guests will be given a tour of the building and treated to refreshments.

6th Grade Step-Up Day at Hazen!   The Hazen community will welcome 6th grade students from the OSSU District on Wednesday, May 17.  Students will arrive for orientation at 9:15 AM.  They will meet with school administrators, tour the building with NHS students, be treated to a concert by Hazen music students and meet with middle school teachers in their classrooms before returning to the elementary schools at 11:15 AM.  Hazen students are asked to extend a courteous Wildcat Welcome to the Hazen Class of 2023!
Orientation for 6th Grade Parents:  A special orientation evening is planned for all parents of 6th grade students who will attend Hazen in the fall on Wednesday, May 17, at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet teachers, and be introduced to the changes they should expect when their child enters middle school.

Green Up Day in Hardwick!  The annual Green Up Day in Vermont will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017.  Hazen students can earn valuable Community Service hours by helping organizers at the Hardwick Fire Station by handing out bags and gloves and taking in roadside trash as it comes in.  Volunteers are needed from 9 AM to 3 PM.  Please contact Karen Klotz at 472-9034 to sign up!
Early Dismissal for Teacher Professional Development on Tuesday, May 9.  Students will be dismissed at 11:35 AM to allow teachers to participate in scheduled professional development.

Hazen School Budget Vote Today at the Hardwick Elementary School!  Polls are open until 7 PM!
2017 Spring Recess!   Hazen Union School will be closed for Spring Recess Monday, April 17 through Friday, April 21, 2017.  Classes will resume on Monday, April 24.
A La Carte items now available in the Hazen Cafeteria!  The Hazen Cafeteria now offers some entrees, healthy snack items and beverages for purchase individually.  A la carte items will be cash sales only or paid for by funds on student account......students may not charge a la carte items.  
Summer 20017 Chinese Cultural Camp.. BECOME A HOST FAMILY OR STUDENT AMBASSADOR!!  The Chinese Cultural Camp is being held in Hardwick this summer and we are looking for host families.  This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange.  Chinese students will be here for approximately 11 days.  Exact dates will be known in the next month, but the 11 days will happen during a three week window:  July 20- Aug. 10th.  There is a stipend for hosting and the program is a ton of fun!! Please contact Anna Crytzer if you're interested:  acrytzer@ossu.org or 802-525-4292.   
Students!  Are you interested in making international friends?  Does it sound like fun to spend a week and a half getting to know students from China?  If so.....check out our student ambassador program for the 2017 Chinese Cultural Camp.  The camp will be held at Hazen for 8 or 9 days near the end of July or beginning of August (official dates to come soon).  As a student ambassador you would get to come to the program daily, make friends with high school students from China, go on field trips, and earn community service hours.  This is a really fun program!  If you're interested, please see Anna Crytzer or Anja Pfeffer.

Early Release for Students this Week!  Students will be released at 11:35 AM on Thursday, April 6 and again on Friday, April 7, 2017 due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.  
Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences:  Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 12 noon until 6 PM.  Parents wishing to schedule a conference should contact Mrs. Quinn in the Principal's Office, 472-2195, to reserve a time.  Students will be released at 11:35 AM on Thursday, April 6.
